Love her, hate her - you can't deny Miley Cyrus sure knows how to rock the trends. Almost too well, it seems. Her infamous "Wrecking Ball" video has generated over 300 million views, but the thing that caught my eye was the simplicity of the white tank and underwear ensemble. It worked perfectly with the industrial setting of her music video whilst showing off her super toned body.

The white-on-white trend is something that's been popping up quite frequently over the past Spring/Summer season, and paired with clean, structured lines, I think that the achromatic look brings a new class of sophistication to an office outfit.

Happy Halloween at Breakfast At Tiffany's

DRESS: WITCHERY Tunic Dress
SHOES: BRONX Satin Ribbon Peeptoe Heels
NECKLACE: Pearl Necklace (borrowed)
GLOVES: Costume gloves from a dollar store
HAIR PIN: Bejeweled Purple Peacock Clip

Happy Halloween everyone! In Australia, Halloween isn't celebrated as widely, with only a few trick-or-treaters visiting my door tonight. Despite this, I never miss an opportunity to dress up, so this year my halloween costume has been inspired by the one and only Audrey Hepburn, in her iconic role as Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Also, newsflash on my life - I have now completed my HSC exams which gives me time for bigger and brighter things for this blog! I'm currently working on several print designs as well as sewing myself some cool outfits so stay tuned for more info!

What did you dress up as for Halloween?

Dress: EVIL TWIN 'Party Monster' Dress
Jacket: Thrifted Monochrome Striped Sailor Blazer
Clutch: MARGAUX Monochrome Stripe Clutch
Shoes: RUBI Studded Heels
Nails: Flame Stick-On Nails

I love the monochrome trend, and it's pretty much my go-to style. I love to play it up with a bit of sparkle, a bit of edge and a red lippie. I absolutely love this EVIL TWIN dress - named the "Party Monster" - the quality is phenomenal and the rhinestone detailing at the front with the skater skirt flare really gives this dress a fun flirty quality. With the monochrome trend, I stuck to stripes - both thin and wide - the juxtaposition really bringing out the sharp and edgy look.

"Salute The Sun" Market HQ MBFFS 2013 Runway

Saturday, 31 August 2013 • No comments

Youth fashion basically screams "YOLO", with so many different styles and bright colours to choose from - as well as risking the oh-so-judgmental looks from older generations. Your youth is the perfect time to go crazy with fashion, and seeing Market HQ's runway show "Salute The Sun" last week at the MBFFS, I really saw the meaning behind the words "young, wild and free".

Market HQ hosts a multitude of notable Australian brands tailored for the youth such as Evil Twin, MinkPink, and Bless'ed Are The Meek.

So, naturally, after I'd experienced the MBFWA Trends show at MBFFS, I immediately (impulsively!) bought a ticket to the Market HQ show. And what a great impulse buy! The show was an explosion of colours, patterns and prints. Not only did it follow on trend, but it encapsulated what I like to call "the youth spirit". The show began with an amazing street artist painting the Market HQ logo as a backdrop, and halfway through the show, street dancers came out of the audience and performed their dance-tastic moves on the catwalk.

The fashion in itself was an art explosion of on-trend styles such as monochrome, floral print, and fluoro colours. Once again, 90s fashion was back with fluro green jelly sandals, short crop tops and overalls. Personally, I've got my sights set on a new pair of overalls, and possibly one, two (or three) monochrome bomber jackets.

Fashionably Late Friday: Fashion Weekend Sydney

Wednesday, 22 May 2013 • No comments

There's nothing quite like the feeling of going to a fashion event. Fashion Weekend Sydney was no different. Rocking up in a polka-dot ROMWE dress, DIY monochrome accordion necklace and a red blazer, I had a blast when I went on Friday night.

My first stop was at the NP Set Makeup and Lash Bar, where the makeup artists were giving out makeovers for $40 which was redeemable with purchases. I opted for a smoky bronze look with a bright red lip. It was such a great learning experience for me - and I was smitten with the cute directors' chairs and the makeup suitcases!

I was very pleased with my decision to go with the Platinum ticket when I witnessed the 100m long line to the Catwalk. I was able to get front-row seats (just behind the VIPs on a raised level) and a perfect view of the catwalk. I was in one of the aisle seats which allowed me to perch precariously in my chair to take snaps. Sadly, most of the pictures I took during the catwalk were blurry. I did record a great video of the show though. The notable designers on show during FWS included Bec & Bridge, StyleStalker,  Watson x Watson, Hussy, Natasha, Nicola Finetti and Tululah.

The highlight of my evening was probably the mini-fashion photoshoot with The Photo Studio Broadway. The photographer, James, was so good and I had a great time shooting with him. But that's not the exciting part. Whilst I was waiting for my photo to be developed, he stopped shooting for a bit and came up to talk to me about how he would love to do another photoshoot with me at the studio. So naturally, I couldn't refuse the offer and I made a promise to him that I would see him sometime before my HSC. I also spoke with one of the models, Erin, and she revealed that her secret to a toned body was pole-dancing. It got me intrigued and I wouldn't mind giving pole-dancing a go.

Being in the The Photo Studio photoshoot also meant that I entered into the The Face of Fashion Weekend competition. The winner will get an amazing magazine style fashion shoot including:

  • Full hair and make-up
  • 2 hours with a professional photographer
  • Styling and modeling advice
  • a beautiful portfolio of archival prints
  • PLUS a brand new HP Envy X2 - 100% Notebook. 100% Tablet.

I entered with this picture - ENTRY #7188:

I would really appreciate it if you would all vote for me (multiple times if you want) HERE!
Competition closes Midnight Monday 27th May 2013.

By the end of the night, I was giddy with happiness as I had not only received many many compliments for my outfit, but i had also gotten snapped by the official FWS photographer and scored a foreign magazine interview.
