The Veronicas Meet & Greet + Concert

Tuesday, 10 March 2015 • No comments

Friday 20th Feb was a surreal experience for me. I had bought tickets to see The Veronicas, who are one of my favourite bands. Not just any ticket, but Meet and Greet tickets. Late last year, I had the opportunity to work as an extra for The V’s “If You Love Someone” music video and meeting them then was both an overwhelming and humbling experience. We (the extras crew) got to make jokes and interact with the twins, and they were extremely compassionate and down to earth and even allowed for us to take photos at the end of the night! If you look closely, you may spot me!

Their latest album, self-titled “The Veronicas” was released late 2014 after years of conflict with their previous record label. So when I heard they were going on tour in Australia, I knew I had to go. And The V’s did not disappoint. I was amazed that such a loud sound could come out of the petite twins. I got to listen to their soundcheck before the show started and after that they answered questions from the audience.

The meet and greet was short and sweet - each fan got hugs, a photo and a chat with the girls. The most surprising thing was that they remembered me from the IYLS music video. I was extremely excited to see them again and as the ever-so-curious fashionista, I asked them about their monster platforms that Jess and Lisa were both wearing. Turns out that the platforms in question were from none other than UNIF. We had a giggle when they found out that I share the same shoe size as them (for once, having tiny feet works in my favour!) and they joked that we should swap shoes as I too was wearing platforms (though not quite as high as theirs). I also found it incredibly amusing that they were also wearing their own merchandise. I ended up buying three pieces of merch that night - a snapback, a shirt emblazoned with symbols and on the back “THE VERONICAS ... BACK WITH A VENGEANCE” and a matching pair of leggings.

The Veronicas’ supporting act was Dean Ray, from 2014’s X-Factor Australia. I expected him to have more stage presence but it felt detached and his jokes fell flat on me. And then the V’s took the stage. Immediately they dominated the stage.

And they indeed are back with a vengeance. The concert itself was spectacular. Powerful performances of their latest hits were interspersed with stripped-back versions of their first album's hits, such as "Everything I'm Not".

I have over 200 photos from that night. I've put some of the best into an album which can be seen HERE.

I never thought I'd be a maxi dress type of girl. I'm not the tallest girl around but when I saw this Syndicate dress at a MINKPINK warehouse sale, I knew I had to buy it. The thin criss-crossed straps, the darts, the thigh slit - it made for a wonderful first.

This would be too formal for walking in the street, but a nice party or a corporate event would be ideal - it oozes sophisticated style.

Organic Nissa "Australian Yoga on the Beach" Photoshoot

Back in November, I was blessed to work again with the lovely Nissa (Organic Nissa), Sam (Samuel Noakes Photographics), Kim (The Makeup Siren) and Kase (MindBodyElite) in a Christmas photoshoot of "Yoga on the Beach". Even though Christmas is over, the memories of fresh food and laughter emanating from our South Coast beach house will stay with me for a lifetime.
